About the Show:

The laughs are back to the Finger Lakes Tasting & Tap Room when Homebrewed Comedy comes to Cortland on Friday, Feb. 18. Sara Shipley is headlining the show, and she'll be there with Bill Lake, Shane Allen and host Mike Peters.

The show will start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are available online and at the door. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

About the Comedians:

Mike Peters, a Binghamton comedian, specializes in self-deprecating, observational humor. A contributor for Funny or Die, Peters performed at the Funny Bone in Syracuse, the Greenwich Village Comedy Club in New York City, won the Utica Brews Laugh Contest and Uptown Roast Battle and opened for Super Troopers’ Rabbit, Erik Stolhanske and Gilbert Gottfried. Peters produces shows all over New York and hosts his weekly podcast, On the Mic with Mike Peters.

Shane Allen has been doing stand-up around the Rochester area for more than a decade. A DJ for WAIO 95.1 in Rochester and co-founder of The Innerloop Blog, Allen is a regular host at the Comedy at the Carlson and took second at the Rochester’s Funniest Person contest in 2021. Allen also co-hosts The Gentlemen’s Club podcast with Mark Maira. If you've attended a wedding in Monroe County, he was probably the DJ/MC. Unless the wedding sucked, in which case ... that was a different guy.

A former contributing writer for David Letterman and Craig Ferguson, Bill Lake is a host at the Syracuse Funny Bone, performed yearly at the Binghamton Comedy Crawl and is a founder of the Boho Comedy Club in Binghamton. He’s performed at the Salem Comedy Festival, the Asheville Comedy Festival, the Cape Fear Comedy Festival, the Plano Comedy Festival and North Carolina Comedy Festival. One of Binghamton’s strongest comedians, Lake uses his smart writing to entertain audiences all over the upstate area. He made the finals of Buffalo’s Funniest Person in 2021.

Sara Shipley is a quick-rising star within the Upstate, N.Y., comedy scene. The 2021 winner of Rochester’s Funniest Person, Shipley is a performance triple threat -- improvisor, actor and comedian. She’s opened for some of the biggest names in comedy, including April Macie, Tammy Pescatelli and Jim Norton. She performs stand-up regularly at Comedy at the Carlson in Rochester and at the Focus Theater with The Urge Improv team.
